Surat Businessman Kidnapped at Gunpoint Over Daughter’s Relationship Dispute; Three Held
Surat Police arrested Rishabh Nahata and two associates for allegedly kidnapping a businessman at gunpoint after a dispute involving the businessman’s daughter. Police traced the suspects to the City Light area and rescued the victim within hours. Valuables worth approximately ₹41.40 lakh were also recovered.

Surat: Police have arrested three men for allegedly kidnapping a businessman at gunpoint following a dispute involving the victim’s daughter. The businessman was rescued within hours after police traced the accused to Surat’s City Light area.
The main accused has been identified as Rishabh Nahata, son of city builder Mukesh Nahata. According to police, Rishabh and the businessman’s daughter had allegedly been in a relationship before she ended contact with him.
Three Men Arrive at Businessman’s House
According to preliminary information, Rishabh arrived at the businessman’s residence with two associates on October 1. The businessman’s daughter was not at home at the time.
Police said an argument broke out after Rishabh questioned the businessman about his daughter no longer communicating with him. The three men then allegedly threatened the businessman with a pistol and forcibly took him away.
Following information about the alleged kidnapping, police launched an operation to locate the victim and suspects.
Businessman Rescued Within Hours
Investigators traced the accused to the City Light area of Surat. Police subsequently detained the three men and rescued the businessman.
The other two accused have been identified as Dev Ketan Ahir, a resident of Adajan, and Laxman Rathod, a resident of Umragam.
According to police, Dev is a friend of Rishabh and allegedly possessed the pistol used during the incident. Laxman reportedly works at the builder’s office. Police said the accused have previous criminal records.
Relationship Dispute Under Investigation
During the investigation, police found that Rishabh and the businessman’s daughter had allegedly been in a relationship before she stopped communicating with him.
Police said Rishabh claimed during questioning that the woman had verbally abused one of his female friends over the phone and that he had gone to her residence seeking an explanation. When she was not present, he reportedly spoke with her father, after which the confrontation escalated.
These claims form part of the accused’s account to investigators and remain subject to the police investigation.
Police also recovered valuables estimated to be worth approximately ₹41.40 lakh from the accused.
Further investigation into the alleged kidnapping and the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
