Pune Pregnant Woman Suffers Miscarriage After Alleged Assault in Bhavani Peth; Two Booked
A pregnant woman suffered a miscarriage after she was allegedly assaulted and kicked in the abdomen during a dispute in Pune’s Bhavani Peth. Samarth Police have booked Sajjad Bablu Memon and his sister Sana following a complaint by the woman’s husband. The woman was taken to Sassoon Hospital after experiencing severe pain and bleeding.

Pune: A pregnant woman suffered a miscarriage after she was allegedly assaulted and kicked in the abdomen during a dispute in Pune’s Bhavani Peth area on Thursday night. Samarth Police have registered a case against a brother-sister duo in connection with the incident.
The accused have been identified as Sajjad Bablu Memon and his sister Sana. The case was registered following a complaint lodged by the woman’s husband.
Road Dispute Allegedly Escalates Into Assault
According to the complaint, the incident occurred at around 9 pm when the complainant was standing outside his residence.
Sajjad was allegedly riding a two-wheeler at high speed when the vehicle went over the complainant’s foot. The complainant stopped him and questioned him about the manner in which he was riding and whether the vehicle had a horn.
Police said the exchange allegedly led to an argument, following which Sajjad began assaulting the complainant.
Hearing the commotion, the complainant’s pregnant wife came outside and called neighbours for help. Several residents reportedly gathered and attempted to intervene.
Pregnant Woman Allegedly Kicked in Abdomen
According to the complaint, Sana allegedly grabbed the pregnant woman by her hair and assaulted her. Sajjad then allegedly kicked her forcefully in the abdomen.
The woman fell to the ground and subsequently complained of severe abdominal pain and bleeding.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and shifted her to Sassoon General Hospital for medical treatment.
According to the complaint and medical findings cited by police, the woman suffered a miscarriage following the incident.
Case Registered at Samarth Police Station
Following the medical examination, the woman’s husband approached police and lodged a formal complaint.
Samarth Police registered a case against Sajjad and Sana under relevant provisions of law, including sections pertaining to grievous hurt and causing miscarriage without the woman’s consent.
Sub-Inspector Tanaji Shegar is investigating the case.
