Pune Traffic Update: Heavy Vehicles Banned on Bajirao Road and Shivaji Road Until Diwali Ends
Pune Traffic Police has imposed a ban on heavy vehicles on Bajirao Road and Shivaji Road from October 25 until the end of the Diwali festival. The decision comes amid heavy crowds in central Pune's markets due to festive shopping. The weekend concessions previously allowing heavy vehicles on these routes have also been cancelled

Pune: With Diwali approaching, large crowds are gathering in central Pune's markets for festive shopping. Areas such as Laxmi Road, Kumthekar Road, Kelkar Road and Tulshibaug have witnessed increased footfall, resulting in traffic congestion.
To manage the rush and ensure pedestrian safety, Pune Traffic Police has announced restrictions on heavy vehicles travelling along two important roads in the city.
Heavy Vehicle Entry Banned on Two Major Roads
Heavy vehicles will not be allowed on Bajirao Road and Shivaji Road from October 25 until the end of the Diwali festival.
According to the traffic police, the concessions previously granted to heavy vehicles on these routes on Saturdays and Sundays have also been withdrawn. The restrictions will remain in force throughout the festive period.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakare has issued the order regarding the restrictions.
Heavy Crowds in Central Pune Markets
The central market areas of Laxmi Road, Kumthekar Road, Kelkar Road and Tulshibaug are attracting large numbers of shoppers ahead of Diwali. The increased movement of pedestrians and vehicles reportedly caused significant congestion on Saturday.
The traffic police has taken this decision to maintain smoother traffic flow, reduce congestion during peak shopping hours and prevent inconvenience to citizens visiting the markets.
Commuters Advised to Follow Traffic Rules
Heavy vehicle operators are advised to avoid the restricted roads and use alternative routes. Other motorists should also expect increased traffic around central Pune's shopping areas during the festive season.
Commuters are advised to follow instructions issued by Pune Traffic Police and check official updates for any additional restrictions or changes.
The ban will continue until the end of the Diwali festival. The exact date on which the restrictions will be lifted has not been specified in the information provided.
