Pune, October 25, 2026: The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Shubham Umakant Dhake in a case involving alleged irregularities in the allotment of flats under a Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) housing scheme.
Justice Milind N. Jadhav passed the order on October 13, 2026, while hearing Bail Application No. 3854 of 2026. The court noted that the primary allegations concerned another accused and that no specific financial benefit had been attributed to Dhake.
Around 100 Investors Allegedly Promised Affordable Flats
The case relates to allegations that approximately 100 investors were persuaded to pay around ₹9 lakh each after being promised 1 BHK flats in Pune under a PMRDA housing scheme at concessional prices.
According to the prosecution, several investors neither received the promised properties nor obtained refunds.
A criminal case was registered at Pimpri Chinchwad Police Station under Sections 318(1), 318(4), 335, 338, 336(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
High Court Notes Absence of Specific Role
During the hearing, the High Court observed that the main allegations were directed against Accused No. 2, who was allegedly associated with PMRDA and had induced investors to make payments.
The court noted that the FIR did not clearly describe a specific role played by Dhake or the other accused persons beyond their reported presence at the residence of Accused No. 2.
It also considered that Dhake is a computer engineer and that there was no allegation suggesting he had received any portion of the investors' money.
Based on these circumstances, the court found sufficient grounds to grant him bail.
Dhake was represented by Advocates Satyam Nimbalkar and Harshwardhan Milind Pawar, while Additional Public Prosecutor Rajeshree V. Newton appeared for the State.
Bail Granted With Strict Conditions
The High Court ordered Dhake's release upon furnishing a personal recognisance bond of ₹25,000 and one or two sureties for the same amount.
He must report to the investigating officer every month, cooperate with the trial and attend court proceedings unless exempted.
The court also prohibited him from leaving Maharashtra without prior permission or attempting to influence witnesses or interfere with evidence.
Importantly, the High Court clarified that its observations were limited to deciding the bail application and would not influence the trial court's assessment of the evidence.
The criminal proceedings will continue, and the allegations remain subject to judicial determination.
