Pimpri-Chinchwad, November 2, 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Police have arrested a 26-year-old man accused of operating a cyber fraud network from Dubai in coordination with alleged Chinese cybercriminals. The suspect was taken into custody at Mumbai airport after being detained in Dubai and deported to India.
The accused, identified as Sumant alias Nanu Ravindra Dasre, a resident of Nigdi Pradhikaran, allegedly used more than 150 bank accounts to receive money obtained through online investment and task-based fraud schemes.
According to a press release issued by Pimpri-Chinchwad Police on November 2, investigators believe Dasre earned more than ₹1 crore through his involvement in the suspected cybercrime operation.
Two alleged associates, Tushar Amraram Chaudhary (29) and Adarsh Santosh Waghmare (27), have also been arrested.
Dubai-Based Suspect Traced Through Bank Account Investigation
The investigation began after police identified bank accounts allegedly being used to receive and withdraw money obtained through cyber fraud.
A case was registered at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Police Station under Crime No. 42/2026, invoking Sections 318(4), 317(2), 61(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Swami received information about Tushar Chaudhary, a resident of Chikhali, who was suspected of operating bank accounts used for fraudulent transactions.
During the investigation, police identified another alleged associate, Adarsh Waghmare of Akurdi.
According to investigators, the two men opened bank accounts and shared their details with Dasre, who was operating from Dubai.
Money allegedly obtained through cyber fraud was transferred into these accounts. The local associates then withdrew the funds through cheques, retained commissions and deposited the remaining amounts into designated accounts using cash deposit machines.
Police suspect the money was subsequently routed to individuals connected with the Dubai-based operation.
Accused Allegedly Worked With Chinese Cyber Fraud Operators
Police said preliminary questioning revealed that Dasre initially worked in Dubai for a monthly salary of 6,000 dirhams.
His responsibilities allegedly included making calls and sending messages connected with share-trading and task-based online fraud schemes.
Investigators said he also received a 4% commission on money obtained from victims.
According to police, Dasre later began using international payment cards supplied by alleged Chinese associates to purchase expensive products at shopping malls and other establishments.
He reportedly handed these goods to the associates in exchange for commissions.
Police allege that Dasre subsequently entered into a partnership with the foreign operators and began receiving a 20% share of the proceeds from fraudulent transactions.
Investigators believe he obtained access to more than 150 bank accounts through Chaudhary and Waghmare.
The police estimate that he earned over ₹1 crore from the suspected activities, although the full financial trail remains under investigation.
Look Out Circular Leads to Arrest After Dubai Deportation
Following directions from Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, investigators gathered information about Dasre's location and activities abroad.
Police said a Look Out Circular was issued as part of efforts to trace the accused.
According to the official press release, Dasre was detained in Dubai with assistance from international law-enforcement coordination and subsequently deported to India.
A Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Police team led by Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Swami took him into custody at Mumbai airport and arrested him in connection with the registered case.
Investigators also found that cases had previously been registered against him in Hyderabad, Telangana, and at Kalewadi Police Station in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Police Investigating Dubai Call Centre and Wider Network
Dasre has been remanded to police custody until November 4, 2026.
Investigators are now working to identify additional suspects, examine financial transactions and gather information about the alleged cyber fraud call centre operating in Dubai.
Police said 93 cases involving bank accounts used for online fraud have been registered across the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
The latest operation was conducted under the supervision of Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner Sarang Awad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rohidas Pawar and Assistant Commissioner Rohini Bankar.
