Pimpri-Chinchwad, October 29, 2026: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi has issued show-cause notices to two senior civic officials over separate allegations of misconduct and administrative irregularities.

The notices have been served to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital Dean Dr Rajendra Wable and Chief Garden Superintendent Mahesh Gargote. Both officials have been directed to submit written explanations within two days.

The commissioner has warned that disciplinary proceedings may follow if the officials fail to respond within the deadline or if their explanations are found unsatisfactory.

YCM Hospital Dean Faces Notice Over Police Complaint

Dr Rajendra Wable has received a show-cause notice following the registration of a police case concerning allegations that he insulted an assistant professor.

The commissioner has sought an explanation regarding the alleged conduct, citing the seriousness of the complaint and the ongoing police investigation.

The notice raises questions about compliance with the standards of conduct and integrity expected of government employees.

However, the allegations against Dr Wable remain under investigation, and no finding of misconduct has been established.

Garden Superintendent Questioned Over Permission to Cut 52 Trees

In a separate matter, Chief Garden Superintendent Mahesh Gargote has been asked to explain alleged irregularities in granting permission to fell 52 heritage-status trees on private property in Pimpri.

According to complaints referred to in the notice, the permission was allegedly granted without following applicable regulations, government instructions and mandatory administrative procedures.

The complaints further allege that the number and age of the trees were incorrectly recorded or modified, potentially facilitating their removal.

The notice also raises concerns about possible financial losses to PCMC and reduced civic revenue resulting from the alleged irregularities.

Gargote has been instructed to submit his written explanation in person within two days and clarify why disciplinary proceedings should not be initiated against him.

Commissioner Signals Strict Action Against Irregularities

As Chief Garden Superintendent, Gargote is responsible for the development, maintenance and supervision of municipal gardens, along with tree plantation and conservation activities.

The commissioner has emphasised the importance of proper supervision and adherence to administrative rules.

The latest notices follow the suspension of 11 PCMC officers and employees during the past seven months.

Further action against the two officials will depend on their explanations and the findings of the respective inquiries.
