Woman Dies by Suicide in Wakad; Husband and In-Laws Booked for Alleged Dowry Harassment
A 32-year-old woman, Shilpa Sachin Gaware, allegedly died by suicide in Wakad after her family accused her husband and in-laws of prolonged physical and mental harassment over demands for a share of her parental property. Wakad Police have registered a case against her husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law.
Pune: A 32-year-old married woman allegedly died by suicide in Wakad after reportedly facing physical and mental harassment at her matrimonial home. Her family has alleged that she was repeatedly pressured by her husband and in-laws to claim a share of property from her parental family.
The deceased has been identified as Shilpa Sachin Gaware, 32. The incident took place a day before Raksha Bandhan, leaving her family devastated ahead of the festival.
According to a complaint filed by Shilpa’s brother at Wakad Police Station, she had allegedly been subjected to harassment after her marriage into the Gaware family. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of repeatedly pressuring her to demand a share of her parental property.
The family further alleged that when Shilpa refused to comply with these demands, she was subjected to verbal abuse and physical assault. The alleged harassment continued over a period of time, leaving her severely distressed.
Following the complaint, Wakad Police registered a case against Shilpa’s husband Sachin Gaware, her father-in-law and brother-in-law under provisions related to dowry death and cruelty towards a married woman.
Investigation Underway
Police are currently investigating the allegations and verifying the circumstances surrounding Shilpa’s death. Her family has demanded strict action against those found responsible.
The incident, occurring just a day before Raksha Bandhan, has added to the grief of Shilpa’s family, particularly her brother, who was preparing to celebrate the festival with his sister.
