PUNE: A furniture shop owner in the Nanded City area has landed in legal trouble after police alleged that workers employed at his establishment were not subjected to the required police verification.

The case concerns Sachin Laxman Chavan (29), who operates Mauli Furniture in the Nanded City area along Sinhagad Road.

According to the complaint, Chavan had employed workers at the shop but allegedly failed to complete their character and background verification. Police also alleged that the workers’ details were not submitted to the Nanded City police station as required under the applicable security directions.

Such verification measures are intended to help authorities maintain records of people working at commercial establishments and check their backgrounds when required. The latest action follows police inspections aimed at identifying establishments that have not complied with these requirements.

The case was registered at Nanded City police station on August 16 following a complaint filed by police constable Vijay Bhoru Virnak.

Following the complaint, senior police inspector Atul Bhos, assistant police inspector Mithun Pardeshi and police sub-inspector Mahesh Biradar carried out an inspection at the premises. Police sub-inspector Suresh Kharmate is handling the further investigation.

The action serves as a reminder to businesses across Pune that employee-related documentation and verification requirements should not be overlooked. Authorities are expected to continue inspections in commercial areas to ensure that establishments comply with applicable security directions.

It is important to note that the allegations are part of a police case and do not by themselves establish guilt. The matter remains subject to investigation and further legal proceedings.
