Pune, October 23, 2026: A Pune sessions court has granted bail to Rahul Sitaram Waghmare, an accused in the alleged koyta attack on YouTube influencer Atharv Jagtap outside Cafe Flying Gypsy on Shirole Road.

Additional Sessions Judge S. U. Wadgaonkar granted bail after observing that the injuries recorded in the case did not prima facie indicate an intention to kill.

The court also clarified that the existence of other criminal cases against an accused cannot, by itself, justify denying bail.

Court Grants Bail on ₹25,000 Bond

According to the court order pronounced on Wednesday, Waghmare must furnish a personal bond of ₹25,000 and a surety of the same amount.

The court directed him not to contact or approach complainant Atharv Jagtap and prohibited him from interfering with evidence.

While considering the bail application, the judge examined the nature of the injuries described in the medical records.

Although the prosecution alleged that around 11 to 12 people were involved in the assault, the court observed that the recorded injuries did not prima facie establish an intention to commit murder.

Social Media Dispute Allegedly Led to Attack

The case was registered at Deccan Police Station following an alleged assault outside Cafe Flying Gypsy on August 15.

According to the FIR, the dispute reportedly began during Navratri in 2025 and involved Madhavi Kumbhar, who was acquainted with Jagtap through social media.

Tensions allegedly escalated after Pratik Shinde, an acquaintance of Kumbhar, reportedly trolled one of Jagtap's social media reels.

The prosecution claimed that the confrontation occurred around 3:45 am when Jagtap and his friends were leaving the restaurant.

Kumbhar, Snehal Sonke, Shardul Oval and several unidentified individuals allegedly confronted the group.

Waghmare was accused of participating in the subsequent assault involving a koyta.

Bail Does Not Mean Acquittal

The court's decision concerns Waghmare's eligibility for bail and does not determine whether he committed the alleged offence.

The allegations against him remain subject to judicial proceedings.

The case will proceed according to the applicable legal process, while Waghmare must comply with the conditions imposed by the court.
