Nagpur: Panic spread across Nagpur on Tuesday after multiple schools reportedly received emails threatening bomb attacks on their premises. Similar threatening communication was also reportedly received by the district court, prompting authorities to step up security measures.
According to preliminary information, around 12 government and private schools received the messages during the morning. The emails allegedly contained references to the RSS and were reportedly sent using the name of a Khalistani organisation.
The affected institutions included schools located in Bhandewadi, Ajni, Katol Road and Vayusena Nagar. Centre Point School in Bhandewadi was among those that reportedly received the threatening message.
School administrations immediately informed the police after discovering the emails. Local police stations were alerted and security checks were initiated at the institutions as a precaution.
Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads, accompanied by sniffer dog teams, were deployed to the affected locations. The premises were cleared while security personnel searched classrooms, corridors and other areas for any suspicious object.
No explosive device or suspicious material was reportedly found during the searches, providing relief to students, teachers and parents.
Despite the absence of any explosive, police are treating the threats seriously. Cybercrime investigators have begun examining the emails and digital trail to identify the sender and establish where the messages originated.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the misuse of email platforms to create panic at educational institutions, while authorities continue their probe into the source and motive behind the threats.
