Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal has directed MNGL to expedite pending gas pipeline and supply works in Pune and prepare a clear action plan. She called for faster processing of housing society requests, immediate commencement of supply wherever infrastructure is ready and timely delivery of gas bills. Mayor Manjusha Nagpure urged MNGL to undertake the work ward-wise while protecting underground cables and water pipelines.

Pune: Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal has directed the Maharashtra Natural Gas Company Limited (MNGL) to speed up pending gas supply works across Pune and ensure that residents receive uninterrupted gas services.
Misal issued the directions during a review meeting on MNGL’s operations at the government guest house in Pune. The meeting was attended by Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale, MNGL Pune Manager Ritesh Ingole, Area Manager Omkar Dubal, Sujil Bele and Tejaswi Kerjare.
During the meeting, Misal instructed MNGL officials to prepare a clear and time-bound action plan for completing pending works in different parts of the city. She also stressed the need for better coordination between the gas company, elected representatives, civic administration and citizens.
Focus on Pending Connections and Complaints
Misal directed MNGL to prioritise complaints and requests from residents and ensure that applications submitted by housing societies for new gas connections are properly considered.
She further instructed officials that wherever gas pipeline work has already been completed, gas supply should be started without unnecessary delay. The minister also emphasised the need for a system that ensures residents receive their gas bills on time.
Misal said Pune's gas supply infrastructure should be developed along the lines of the system already established in Mumbai, with the objective of providing residents with a reliable and uninterrupted supply.
Mayor Calls for Ward-Wise Planning
Mayor Manjusha Nagpure said the Pune Municipal Corporation wants MNGL's work to be carried out ward-wise and in a planned manner to minimise inconvenience to residents and avoid disruption to other civic infrastructure.
She specifically highlighted the need to exercise caution while laying underground gas pipelines so that existing electric cables, water pipelines and other underground infrastructure are not damaged.
Nagpure assured MNGL of the civic body's cooperation in carrying out the work while ensuring that the interests and convenience of citizens remain a priority.
The review meeting is expected to bring greater focus on completing pending gas infrastructure projects and improving coordination between MNGL and the Pune civic administration.
