Three Pune Cops Suspended Over Attendance at Accused’s Son’s Birthday Party
Three Pune police personnel were suspended after an internal inquiry found that they had attended the birthday party of the son of a person with a criminal record. Videos of the July 2 celebration had surfaced on social media, following which departmental action was initiated.

Pune: Three Pune police personnel have been suspended after they were found to have attended a birthday celebration organised for the son of a person with a criminal record. The action was taken by Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil following an inquiry into the incident.
The suspended personnel have been identified as Shubham Vijay Surve, attached to Faraskhana Police Station, and Yogesh Bhagchand Ekshinge and Abhijit Anil Shinde, both serving with the Pune City Traffic Branch.
According to the information available, the birthday party was held on July 2, 2026, for the son of a person previously booked in a case under the PITA Act. The three police personnel allegedly attended the celebration.
Videos from the party later surfaced on social media, prompting an internal inquiry. Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Rawale subsequently submitted a report on the matter to the Additional Commissioner of Police.
Following the inquiry, the conduct of the three personnel was found to be inconsistent with the discipline expected from members of the police force. Authorities also took the view that such conduct could damage the public image of the department.
Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil subsequently ordered the suspension of all three personnel.
