Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Ravi Baliram Telange, who had been in custody for around six and a half months in a case registered at Bhosari Police Station.

A bench headed by Justice Milind N. Jadhav heard Bail Application No. 3266 of 2026 and ordered Telange’s immediate release, subject to bail conditions.

The case was registered under Sections 109, 115(2), 118(1), 3(5) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Telange was arrested on February 4, 2026.

While considering the bail application, the court observed that the incident appeared, prima facie, to have arisen from a sudden dispute among a group of friends. Statements indicated that an argument involving verbal abuse was followed by a physical altercation.

The court also noted that there was no apparent indication of prior planning and that Telange had no previous criminal record. The bench further observed prima facie discrepancies regarding the location of injuries in the FIR, eyewitness statements and medical evidence.

The court took into account the prolonged pre-trial incarceration and observed that continued detention could adversely affect the accused’s future employment and life.

Bail Conditions

The court ordered Telange’s release on a P.R. Bond of Rs 10,000 and one surety of the same amount. He has also been directed to appear before the investigating officer once a month on a Sunday between 9 am and 10 am, cooperate with the trial and not leave Maharashtra without the court’s permission.

He has further been directed not to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence.

Telange was represented by Advocate Gaurav Kakade, along with Advocates Alpesh Vegad and Pradip Naik.

The High Court clarified that its observations were made only for deciding the bail application and would not affect the merits of the ongoing trial.
