52-Year-Old Man Arrested Under POCSO Act in Vishrantwadi Minor Assault Case

Pune: Vishrantwadi Police have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Pune. The accused, identified as Jaysing Bhanudas Sathe, is a resident of Kamgar Nagar in Vishrantwadi. Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to police, the alleged incident took place on September 12 and came to light on September 22, when a medical officer informed police that the girl's mother had brought her to a medical facility and reported the assault.

Case Registered Following Mother's Complaint

Acting on the information received from the medical officer, police recorded the statement of the girl's 40-year-old mother and registered a case against Sathe.

Initially, the accused was booked under Sections 74 and 351(2) of the BNS, along with Section 8 of the POCSO Act. Police arrested him shortly after registering the case.

The girl was sent for an immediate medical examination as part of the investigation.

Additional Charges Invoked After Medical Report

Following the medical examination and the recording of supplementary statements from the girl and her mother, police added further charges to the case.

These include Section 65(2) of the BNS and Sections 4, 6 and 12 of the POCSO Act. Police are submitting a report to the court regarding the additional provisions.

Accused Worked as Contractual Sanitation Worker

Police said the accused and the complainant's family live in the same neighbourhood but are not related.

Sathe reportedly works as a contractual sanitation worker with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Police are continuing their investigation into the allegations.
