Pune: Three Juveniles Escape While Being Shifted to Observation Home; Two Recaptured, Search On for One

Pune: In a shocking incident, three juveniles in conflict with the law escaped after allegedly scuffling with staff members while being taken to an observation home in Pune's Koregaon Park area. The incident occurred outside the entrance of a shelter home, triggering an immediate police search operation.

According to police, the juveniles, all aged 17, were being shifted to the Government Observation Home in Baramati following an order issued by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) No. 2. A private vehicle had been arranged to transport them.

However, the Baramati observation home reportedly refused to admit the juveniles. As a result, they were brought back to Pune and taken to the Saathi Open Shelter Home in Koregaon Park.

As staff members were escorting the juveniles out of the vehicle near the shelter home's entrance, the three allegedly got into a scuffle with the staff, broke free from their custody, and fled from the spot.

The staff immediately alerted the police and began chasing the juveniles. One of them was caught near the scene shortly after the escape. Another juvenile, who fled towards Chinchwad, was later traced and detained by Koregaon Park Police with the help of local residents.

The third juvenile, however, remains absconding. According to the complaint, police suspect that an unidentified individual may have assisted or lured the juvenile during the escape. Multiple police teams have been deployed to trace the missing juvenile and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A case has been registered at Koregaon Park Police Station. Senior police officers visited the spot after the incident and reviewed the security arrangements. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and identify any person who may have aided the escape.
