Pune Crime: Man Accused of Molesting 18-Year-Old Woman and Attempting Abduction; Locals Thrash Him
A 30-year-old man was arrested after allegedly molesting an 18-year-old woman and attempting to abduct her in Pune's Sukh Sagar Nagar area. Woman Allegedly Harassed While Waiting for Friend
Pune: A disturbing incident was reported from the Sukh Sagar Nagar area of Pune, where a man allegedly molested an 18-year-old woman and attempted to forcibly take her away from a public road.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 6:30 pm on October 24 near Samarth Dairy on Katraj-Kondhwa Road. The woman was waiting for her friend when the accused, identified as Jitu Kishorilal Saroj, 30, allegedly approached her and touched her inappropriately.
When the woman tried to move away, the accused allegedly pulled her shirt and attempted to take her away. She raised an alarm and screamed for help, drawing the attention of people nearby.
Friend and Local Residents Intervene
The woman's cries alerted her friend and other people in the area, who rushed to help her.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly resisted their intervention and assaulted people who attempted to rescue the woman. He also allegedly damaged a mobile phone during the confrontation.
As the commotion attracted more residents, locals caught hold of the accused and allegedly thrashed him before handing him over to the police. The woman subsequently approached the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Accused Arrested by Bharati Vidyapeeth Police
The accused has been identified as Jitu Kishorilal Saroj, a native of Uttar Pradesh who was reportedly residing in Pune's Katraj area.
The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police registered a case against him following the woman's complaint. Police officials confirmed that the accused had been taken into custody and that further investigation was underway.
The allegations against the accused are subject to the ongoing legal process.
