Hemant Bagul Calls for Immediate Assistance to Farmers

Pune, October 16, 2026: Shiv Sena leader Hemant Bagul has questioned the prolonged discussion on farmers' issues at the Pune Municipal Corporation, arguing that immediate decisions and practical assistance are more important than lengthy debates and political accusations.

In a press statement, Bagul said that while farmers were facing a crisis, the discussion in the municipal corporation's general body meeting appeared to be focused on speeches and allegations rather than concrete decisions to provide relief.

He questioned the need for hours of discussion when farmers urgently require assistance and support.

Bagul Suggests Urgent Meeting Under Mayor's Chairmanship

Bagul said that if there was a genuine intention to help farmers, an urgent meeting could have been convened under the mayor's leadership to take concrete decisions on relief measures.

He emphasised that farmers facing difficulties need actual financial assistance rather than assurances. He also called on political parties to set aside differences and work together to support affected farmers.

According to Bagul, discussions on farmers' problems should lead to timely decisions and tangible assistance.

Shiv Sena Leaders Announce Financial Assistance

Highlighting his party's contribution, Bagul said Shiv Sena leaders had announced financial assistance for farmers.

According to the press release, the announced contributions include:

  • Uday Samant, Maharashtra Industries Minister: ₹10 lakh
  • Hemant Bagul, through the Pune Navratri Festival: ₹5 lakh
  • Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council: ₹1.5 lakh
  • Other Shiv Sena office-bearers: An additional ₹5 lakh collectively

The total announced assistance amounts to ₹21.5 lakh, according to the figures provided in the press release.

The statement said the party was making efforts to ensure that assistance reaches farmers facing difficulties.

'Farmers Need Support, Not Political Blame Games'

Bagul stressed that standing by farmers during a crisis and taking practical steps to address their difficulties were essential responsibilities.

He said political discussions should not remain limited to accusations and counter-accusations but should result in immediate relief for those affected.

Calling for collective efforts, Bagul urged political leaders to work together to provide farmers with the support they need.

He reiterated that helping farmers in distress should take priority over political differences.
