Pune Man Allegedly Killed by Two Friends; Body Found in Beed

Pune: Two men have been arrested for allegedly strangling their 23-year-old friend to death and dumping his body in a hilly area of Beed district, approximately 200 km from Pune. The victim was identified after police circulated photographs of the unidentified body on social media.

The deceased, Abhishek Namdev Karkambe, was a resident of Shikrapur in Pune district. According to police, the two accused were known to him and had allegedly persuaded him to leave his home with them before the killing.

Body Dumped in Kanifnath Ghat

Police said the accused allegedly strangled Karkambe, placed his body in a four-wheeler and transported it to Ashti tehsil in Beed district.

They allegedly abandoned the body in dense shrubs along Kanifnath Ghat on the Beed–Ahilyanagar state highway before fleeing.

The motive behind the alleged murder has not yet been established.

Father's Suspicions Lead to Investigation

When Karkambe failed to return home, his father questioned the two men who had accompanied him. According to police, their responses were vague and inconsistent, raising suspicions about his disappearance.

The investigation progressed after Ambhora Police received information on Friday morning about an unidentified body in the Kanifnath Ghat area.

A police team reached the location, recovered the body and transferred it to Kada Primary Health Centre.

As the deceased could not initially be identified, police circulated photographs on social media to seek information from the public. The photographs eventually helped establish that the body belonged to Karkambe.

Two Accused Arrested

Following the identification, Karkambe's father approached police and lodged a formal complaint on Saturday.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested the two accused and registered an FIR in connection with the alleged murder.

Investigators are now working to establish the sequence of events leading to Karkambe's death and determine the motive behind the crime.
