Pune Crime: Civil Service Aspirant Dies by Suicide Over ₹2.5 Lakh Debt, Note Names 19 People
A 28-year-old civil service aspirant died by suicide at his rented home in Navi Peth, Pune, reportedly amid financial pressure and debt of around ₹2.5 lakh. Police recovered a two-page note that mentioned 19 people and details of money borrowed and repaid.
28-Year-Old MPSC Aspirant Found Dead in Navi Peth
The deceased, identified as Prathamesh Deshmukh, was preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination and lived in a rented flat in central Pune's Navi Peth area.
Police recovered his body from the residence and sent it for postmortem examination.
Suicide Note Mentions 19 Names
According to police, a two-page note was found in the room. The note reportedly contained the names of 19 people along with details about money the deceased had borrowed and repaid.
Police are now examining the circumstances surrounding the loans and the financial pressure he was reportedly facing.
Police Investigating Financial Pressure
Police officer Hrishikesh Rawale said family members are being questioned as part of the investigation.
According to police, Deshmukh reportedly owed around ₹2.50 lakh to several people, while his family was also facing financial difficulties. Investigators are looking into why he had borrowed the money and the circumstances that led to the incident.
The investigation is underway.
