Pune Ganesh Visarjan: MSEDCL Deploys Emergency Teams Along Procession Routes

Pune: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has deployed special teams across Pune to maintain a safe and uninterrupted power supply during the Ganesh Visarjan processions. The arrangements will remain operational from September 24 to 26, 2026, and until the immersion of the city's prominent Ganpati idols is completed.

Teams comprising officers and technical staff from the Parvati, Shivajinagar and Rastapeth divisions have been stationed along major procession routes. MSEDCL has also completed inspections, maintenance and necessary repairs of electrical infrastructure along the routes and at immersion locations.

Parvati Division Deploys 15 Teams

The Parvati division has established a 24-hour control room at its Mahatma Phule Mandai office. A total of 15 teams, each comprising three employees, have been assigned to different locations.

Six teams will cover areas including Mandai, Tulshibaug, Dagdusheth Ganpati, Kumthekar Road, S. P. College, Alka Chowk and Rameshwar Chowk. An additional emergency team will remain stationed at Perugate Chowk.

Nine teams have been assigned to locations including New English School, Ganjve Chowk, Dandekar Bridge, Janata Vasahat, Sinhagad Road, Mhatre Bridge and Mh so ba Chowk.

Special Teams for Shivajinagar and Khadki

The Shivajinagar division has arranged separate teams under its Modi Ganpati, Shivajinagar Gaothan and Khadki branches.

These teams will cover major stretches between Samadhan Chowk and Alka Chowk, as well as Police Ground, PMC, Wakadewadi, Sancheti Hospital and Patil Estate. Additional teams have been stationed along immersion routes in Khadki, including Sonar Galli, Mauli Chowk, Cantonment Hospital and Ram Mandir.

MSEDCL will also establish a monitoring centre near Zudio on Laxmi Road, where senior officers will supervise electricity-related arrangements until the processions conclude.

Emergency Arrangements in Rastapeth

The Rastapeth division has deployed three-member teams at Samadhan Chowk, Lal Mahal Chowk and Pasodya Vithoba Temple Chowk. Emergency power supply arrangements have also been made at these locations.

MSEDCL's in-charge Chief Engineer Dnyandev Padalkar said the department has inspected procession routes and immersion sites and completed the required electrical maintenance. The deployed teams will remain available around the clock until the immersion processions conclude.
