Ganesh Visarjan Turns Tragic in Pune; 18-Year-Old Halgi Player Dies
An 18-year-old halgi player, Vighnesh Pawar from Ramtekdi, died after falling from a moving tractor trolley during a Ganesh Visarjan procession on Pune's B.T. Kawade Road. The accident occurred near Kalubai Chowk at around 3 pm on Friday. He sustained critical injuries after coming under the trolley's rear wheel and was declared dead at a nearby hospital. Mundhwa Police conducted a panchnama at the scene.
Pune: Ganesh Visarjan celebrations took a tragic turn on B.T. Kawade Road after an 18-year-old halgi player lost his life in an accident during an immersion procession on Friday afternoon. The young man reportedly fell from a moving tractor trolley and came under its rear wheel, sustaining critical injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Vighnesh Pawar (18), a resident of Ramtekdi in Hadapsar. The accident occurred at approximately 3 pm near Kalubai Chowk, within the jurisdiction of Mundhwa Police Station.
Young Halgi Player Falls From Moving Trolley
According to preliminary information, Vighnesh was participating in a local Ganesh mandal's immersion procession. He was playing the halgi while seated on a trolley attached to a tractor.
As the procession moved through B.T. Kawade Road and reached Kalubai Chowk, Vighnesh reportedly lost his balance and fell from the moving trolley.
He subsequently came under the trolley's rear wheel and sustained critical injuries.
Rushed to Hospital, Declared Dead
People present at the accident site immediately rushed Vighnesh to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save his life.
However, doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.
The accident brought a tragic end to the young man's participation in the Ganesh Visarjan procession.
Mundhwa Police Reach Accident Site
After receiving information about the incident, a team from Mundhwa Police Station reached Kalubai Chowk and conducted a panchnama.
The accident occurred during the Ganesh immersion procession, when Vighnesh was playing the halgi from a tractor trolley. He reportedly lost his balance before falling beneath the vehicle's rear wheel.
The incident has drawn attention to the risks associated with travelling on moving tractor trolleys during crowded festival processions.
