Parliament Monsoon Session Day 2 Ends in Repeated Disruptions as Opposition Demands Debate on NEET Row
The second day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament witnessed repeated disruptions as the Opposition demanded discussions on the alleged NEET paper leak and the police action during the CJP-led protest in Delhi. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day amid continuous sloganeering.
New Delhi: The second day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament ended in repeated disruptions on Tuesday, with both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha being adjourned for the day following continuous protests by Opposition members.
The proceedings were repeatedly interrupted as Opposition MPs demanded an immediate discussion on the alleged NEET examination paper leak and the recent police action during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest and proposed Parliament march in New Delhi.
Ahead of the session, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by several Opposition MPs, met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. They urged the Speaker to allow a discussion on what they described as the "brutality unleashed" on students during the Delhi protest and the government's alleged failure to address the examination crisis.
Members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, also staged a protest outside Parliament, raising slogans against the police crackdown on protesters.
Despite the government's legislative agenda, the continued uproar prevented normal proceedings. The Centre was expected to introduce the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, in the Rajya Sabha, seeking statutory protection for the National Song "Vande Mataram."
In the Lok Sabha, the government had planned to take up the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, for discussion and passage. However, repeated disruptions stalled business in both Houses.
Following multiple adjournments throughout the day, Parliament was adjourned until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22.
