Meerut Blue Drum Murder Case: Muskan and Sahil Convicted in Saurabh Rajput Murder

Meerut: A Meerut court has convicted Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla in the murder of Muskan’s husband, Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput. The verdict was pronounced on Wednesday after a trial that lasted around 13 months and involved 126 hearings.

According to the prosecution, Saurabh Rajput was allegedly drugged and killed by Muskan with the help of Sahil in March 2025. His body was then allegedly dismembered and the remains were placed inside a blue plastic drum, which was sealed with cement.

The case came to light after police recovered Rajput’s body parts from the drum during the investigation. Muskan and Sahil had reportedly fled to Himachal Pradesh after the murder and were later arrested after returning to Meerut.

The prosecution presented circumstantial, forensic and scientific evidence during the trial. More than 22 witnesses were examined, while evidence relating to the recovery of the body and the alleged purchase of a knife, razor, drum, cement and sand was also presented before the court.

The defence argued that there was no eyewitness to the murder and questioned the circumstances of the case. The defence also claimed that the accused had been implicated in connection with a property dispute.

After hearing the arguments, the court found Muskan and Sahil guilty. The court will now hear arguments regarding the quantum of punishment. The prosecution has sought stringent punishment, including the death penalty, for both accused.

The case had attracted widespread attention after Rajput’s dismembered body was recovered from the blue plastic drum. Security was tightened around the Meerut court complex ahead of the verdict.
