Over 120 Blood Units Collected at Kharadi Donation Camp

Pune: More than 120 units of blood were collected at a blood donation camp organised in Rakshak Nagar Phase 2, Kharadi, as part of an initiative by Yuva Spandan Social Foundation to support the city's blood requirements.

The camp was organised by Yuva Spandan Social Foundation in association with residents of Rakshak Nagar Phase 2 and received participation from local citizens and volunteers.

The initiative was undertaken against the backdrop of a reported shortage of blood at blood banks in Pune. With blood regularly required for accident victims, surgeries, serious illnesses and various medical treatments, the organisers sought to encourage voluntary blood donation and increase awareness about its importance.

Residents of Rakshak Nagar Phase 2 participated in the drive, helping the organisers collect more than 120 blood units during the camp.

Mangesh Gaikwad, Mohan Gaikwad, Tejas Lale, Shivam Alhat, Rohit Deshmukh, Kiran Ubale, Kiran Kumar Hangadi and Hritik Deshmukh coordinated different aspects of the initiative, including connecting with residents, encouraging donors and assisting with the arrangements.

From Yuva Spandan Social Foundation, Tisha Khollam, Ishan Kurhe, Namrata Gholap and Pranjal Kadam were involved in planning and organising the camp.

Apart from collecting blood, the initiative also aimed to create greater awareness about voluntary and regular blood donation. The organisers highlighted the importance of community participation in ensuring that blood is available for patients when required.

Following the camp, Yuva Spandan Social Foundation thanked the blood donors, residents of Rakshak Nagar Phase 2, coordinators, volunteers and others who supported the initiative.

The foundation also expressed its intention to continue organising social and public-interest initiatives based on community needs in the future.
