Central Railway Announces Month-Long Ticket Checking Drive From October 1
Central Railway will conduct a special ticket-checking campaign from October 1 to 31, 2026. The drive will focus on verifying concession tickets, reservation quotas, E-Pass/PTO documents and unreserved tickets. Passengers must carry the prescribed original identity and eligibility documents to avoid action under railway rules.
Pune: Central Railway will conduct an intensive ticket-checking drive from October 1 to 31, 2026, to verify passenger tickets, detect fraudulent travel documents and prevent the misuse of railway concessions and reservation quotas.
The month-long campaign will cover railway stations and trains, with special attention to tickets booked under concessional fares, specified reservation quotas and travel passes. Passengers have been advised to carry valid tickets along with the original identity and eligibility documents required for their journey.
Original ID Proof Mandatory for Group Bookings
Passengers travelling on tickets booked for multiple people must ensure that at least one passenger named on the ticket carries the prescribed original identity proof.
According to Central Railway, if the required original identity document is not produced, all passengers travelling on that ticket will be treated as travelling without a valid ticket, in accordance with applicable railway rules.
Passengers using concession tickets or specified reservation quotas must also carry original documents establishing their eligibility.
Special Checks for E-Pass and PTO Holders
Central Railway will closely examine tickets issued under the E-Pass and Privilege Ticket Order (PTO) facilities.
Passengers travelling under these facilities must carry the prescribed original identity proof. They must also ensure that their E-Pass or PTO has been duly exchanged for the required travel authority before beginning their journey.
Failure to comply with the applicable documentation requirements may result in action under railway rules.
TTE App to Help Detect Fraudulent Tickets
Ticket-checking staff will conduct enhanced inspections at stations and aboard trains throughout October.
Special attention will be given to verifying the authenticity of unreserved tickets. Railway staff will use the TTE App wherever necessary to authenticate tickets and identify potentially fraudulent travel documents.
The drive is intended to prevent the misuse of reservation facilities, concessions and travel passes while reducing revenue losses caused by ticket-related irregularities.
Central Railway Appeals for Passenger Cooperation
Central Railway has urged passengers to verify their tickets and carry all required original documents before travelling.
Passengers using concessions, reservation quotas or railway passes have been advised to check the eligibility and identity requirements applicable to their bookings.
The railway administration has also appealed to travellers to cooperate with ticket-checking staff during the month-long campaign.
