Family Alleges Non-Veg Food Was Served as Veg Biryani

A food-related controversy has emerged at Bengaluru Airport after a family accused Taste of India restaurant at Terminal 1 of serving non-vegetarian food despite ordering vegetarian biryani.

According to the family's complaint, they ordered veg biryani at the restaurant near Gates 16–17, and the bill also clearly mentioned the vegetarian dish. However, they alleged that the food served to them contained chicken.

The family stated that they follow a strictly vegetarian diet and that even children unknowingly consumed the food before the issue came to their attention.

Family Claims Restaurant Staff Confirmed Presence of Chicken

The family has claimed that videos of its conversation with the restaurant manager and chef are available as evidence. According to the complaint, the restaurant staff also confirmed during the discussion that the food contained chicken.

The family said the incident caused significant distress and hurt their religious sentiments.

They have also stated that the bill and other supporting evidence are available and have urged the authorities to examine the material.

Demand for FSSAI and Airport Authorities to Investigate

The complainants have requested the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Bengaluru Airport authorities and other concerned departments to urgently investigate the matter.

Their demands include:

  • Checking the restaurant's CCTV footage.
  • Examining food preparation and order records.
  • Verifying how non-vegetarian food was allegedly served against a vegetarian order.
  • Taking appropriate action if violations are established.

Food Safety and Consumer Trust Under Question

The incident has raised concerns over food-order accuracy and the importance of preventing misidentification or incorrect serving of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, particularly in airport restaurants serving travellers.

However, the allegations have not been independently verified, and the response of Taste of India restaurant and Bengaluru Airport authorities is awaited.
