Lucknow: A shocking discovery aboard the Tamil Nadu Express triggered a major police investigation after dismembered human remains were found inside a trolley bag in the train's general coach at Agra Cantt Railway Station on Wednesday morning.

The incident came to light after a passenger noticed a strong foul smell and suspected blood leaking from a red trolley bag. The passenger immediately alerted the Railway Helpline (139), prompting railway authorities to act swiftly.

By the time the alert was processed, the train had already departed Gwalior. Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel intercepted the train upon its arrival at Agra Cantt at around 5:30 a.m. and recovered the suspicious bag from one of the rear general coaches.

During inspection, officers found dismembered body parts of an unidentified man wrapped in plastic inside the suitcase. Preliminary estimates suggest the remains were approximately one week old. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and assist in identifying the victim.

Investigators also recovered a plastic wrapper bearing the address of a business in Chennai, providing a possible lead in the case. A GRP team is being sent to Chennai to gather additional evidence and verify the origin of the packaging.

Police have launched a comprehensive investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from railway stations along the Tamil Nadu Express route to trace where the trolley bag was brought onboard and identify those responsible.

Authorities say multiple teams are working together to reconstruct the sequence of events, while forensic analysis and surveillance footage are expected to play a crucial role in solving the case.
